Shitamachi Scam (Detective Hiroshi Series Book 6)

A woman in her seventies and a student recluse both die under suspicious circumstances, and Detective Hiroshi Shimizu goes after a gang of scammers who work retirees for everything they have. He teams up with Detective Ishii, who runs a women's crime task force, to find out who has been stripping pensions, retirement accounts and even the deeds to homes.

The gang works Shitamachi, the older eastern side of the city, a district sitting right in the path of urban renewal. With old-school Takamatsu and ex-sumo wrestler Chief Sakaguchi covering him, Hiroshi hunts for who runs the scams, and for who runs the scammers. Tokyo does not always respect its elders. Sometimes it does the opposite.
