Sophie's World

One day fourteen-year-old Sophie Amundsen comes home from school to find in her mailbox two notes, with one question on each: Who are you? and Where does the world come from? From that point on she is drawn into a strange course of study, where she is introduced to the greatest philosophical thinkers from Socrates to Sartre, as her teacher imparts his unique vision of the world. More than just a history of philosophy, Sophie's World is a complete and entertaining view of our cultural heritage, and became an international bestseller when it was first published in 1991.
